German Open 1963: Erich Arndt vs. Eberhard Schler

The JOOLA ("YOH-LAH") brand originates from the 1950s, when it was popular to combine company and city names. Department store sports department.jooss andHEndau was involved in the production of the first table tennis tables in 1952.

Credit for the establishment of this brand, which subsequently became a market leader, goes to Karl Frey, the former owner of the company.Father Thurs. Joos,who died in 1991. As early as 1954, the "table tennis production" became an independent department within the group and finally moved from Landau to Godramstein in 1963, when the lawsuit exploded.

At the same time, this department was separated from the parent company and an independent company was founded. Despite the acquisition of additional buildings, production capacity was reached in 1970 and a new building was inevitable. After 10 months of construction, the plant in Siebeldingen was ready for occupancy in 1973: 1,800 m of production, 1,200 m of storage and 700 m of office space were planned to meet the requirements.

In 1979, Michael Bachtler, who had been in charge of the company as managing director since 1968, took over the company. It has the support of renowned table tennis specialists.

Product development in all price ranges is constantly geared towards the best in the sport. Of course, JOOLA supports the best. JOOLA accompanies the stars, supports talents in maintaining their careers, looks after the top European clubs, Germany and many national associations, equips major international events with excellent playing equipment. Jörg Rokopf and Steffen Fetzner, the only two German table tennis world champions, have been associated with JOOLA since the beginning of their careers and represent the figureheads of JOOLA's belief in quality at the highest level of performance.

Classic distribution system

Since the foundation of the company, our commercial policy has been oriented towards the demands of the table tennis market. Although the internal market is widely covered, the export is carried out through the wholesale trade as a general agency. JOOLA France was founded in 1977 as a subsidiary in Colmar and in 1992 a joint venture for the production of table tennis tables in Hungary (JOOLA Hungaria).

JOOLA tables are manufactured in the Siebeldingen factory, from the top of the tables to the base. The basic equipment is a modern, fully automatic painting line with a possible capacity of 30 tables per hour.
